Assessing Children Who Speak Spanish: Milestones in Spanish Grammar Development (ASHA Web/Telephone Replay)

This internet/telephone replay of the seminar given by Dr. Raquel Anderson (University of Indiana), offers participants the opportunity to, " Discover the patterns of grammar development in young Spanish-speaking children between the ages of 2 and 5. This seminar addresses ways in which language contact situations may affect Spanish-speaking children’s grammatical development. Effective Interventions for English-Language Learners (ASHA DVD and Manual)

This DVD and Manual developed by Dr. Adelaida Restrepo and offered by ASHA "outlines intervention principles, as well as factors to consider when planning intervention programs for ELLs—such as cultural identity, academic achievement, home communication, cross-linguistic transfer, and facilitation factors. The prioritizing of intervention goals is explored through case studies. Reducing the Educational Gap in English-Language Learners-  St. Louis, MO

March 26 (Fri) in St. Louis, MO
Offered by St. Louis University, Lynda R. Bilingual Therapies Symposium-  Las Vegas, NV

28th International IALP Conference-  Athens, Greece

Aug 22 - 26, (Sun - Thurs) at the Athenaeum in Athens, Greece.  The International Association of Logopedists and Phoniatrics represents communication professionals in 55 countries.  The theme of their 28th International Conference is "Where the Sciences of Communication Meet Art and Culture."  Prinicpal topics will include: Neurplasticity, Autism, and Social/Cultural Dimension in Communication Disorders.  ASHA will also be sponsoring a symposium during this event entitled "The Global Solution in Research and Clinical Practice in Communication Disorders."  Find more information at: http://www.ialpathens2010.gr.
